Get Ready for A Football Workout!

September 1, 2015 By Philip Leave a Comment

Football Inspired Workout that you can do on Gameday, plus a healthy recipe for your football party! It’s the most wonderful time of the year!  Football is back!  The Gamecocks open the season this Thursday, but more importantly, my fantasy football draft is this weekend!  Plus only one more Sunday until the NFL returns.

If you want something to do during commercial breaks or when you’re not picking during your draft, try this football inspired body weight workout.  Do each exercise back-to-back in a circuit during the commercial break, only resting during game play.  Complete the circuit for a total of 3 rounds.

  • 10 body weight squats
  • 10 push ups
  • 10 lateral lunges
  • 10 Supermans
  • 10 reverse lunges (each leg)
  • 10 Inverted flyers (each leg)
  • 10 single leg calf raises (each leg)

After you’ve done that workout, you’ll no doubt have worked up an appetite.  Rather than the traditional hot wings which can add extra calories if fried, here is a recipe for baked hot chicken tenders:

  • 1 pound of chicken tenders or chicken breast cut into tender sized pieces
  • 1 teaspoon of olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon of cayenne pepper (or more to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon of oregano
  • 1 half teaspoon of cinnamon

Pre-heat your oven to 375 degrees.  Place the ingredients in a plastic container or ziploc bag, and shake until the chicken is coated with the spices and oil.  Spread chicken onto cookie sheet or non-stick baking pan.  Bake for 13-15 minutes.

Enjoy, and go Panthers!

I've always hated exercise and getting on the floor, out of the question. Eight weeks ago, I didn't know what to expect or if I could successfully do the program. Philip was so patient with me and trained me at a level that I could sustain. I have never been excited about working out. I actually began to look forward to working out with him. At the end of the eight weeks, I feel stronger, I have more energy, and my sleep has improved. I'm even down seven pounds. I was so pleased with the results that I signed up for an additional eight weeks. Thanks Philip!  (Individual results may vary)
