During holiday weekends, you might find yourself out of town, or find that your gym is closed for the holidays. This doesn’t mean that you can’t still get a great workout in! You can still get a great workout in just using body weight exercises done in high intensity rounds; meaning you can do them just about anywhere – like your local park.
Below is an example of a Cross Fit work out called “Barbara.” It consists of 5 rounds of the circuit listed below all done with just you body weight, with a 3 minute break in between. Three minutes of rest might seem like a long time, but you need it. In Cross Fit terms, “Rx” is the prescribed reps, with scaled down versions from there. The only piece of equipment you need is a pull up bar, which you should be able to find at your closest playground. For me, there is a park that is only a 3 minute bike ride from my house.
Barbara | Pullups | Pushups | Situps | Squats |
Rx | 10 | 30 | 40 | 50 |
Pack | 10 | 20 | 30 | 40 |
Puppy | 5 | 10 | 15 | 20 |
I did the Pack level over the weekend, because I had done some hard running this weekend. It was still a great work out that only took me 30 minutes, including a 10 minute warm up. So even with everything else going on today, like friends and family in town, I was still able to get in a quick, effective workout– so can you!
