I was playing pick up soccer yesterday, and somebody made the comment that being in good shape is different from being in soccer shape. True that. With the constant sprinting and stopping, lateral movement, and quick footwork, you get a dynamic workout that steady state cardio doesn't necessarily provide. Fit on The Road: Elastic Band Workout
When you travel for work, you never know what the quality of the hotel gym will be. Most times you'll have one or two treadmills that are 20 years old, and stop moving if you look at the display screen wrong. This week, I stayed a hotel that basically had what you see above - a treadmill and a broken down recumbent bike. Fortunately, I packed my elastic bands. I use Body Lastics which I'm able to easily pack in a carry on bag (even when I'm on a 4 night trip like I was this week). I also like these because I can connect multiple bands to the handles for more resistance to the workout. I used these this week for my back rows, bicep curls, and shoulder press combined with a squat. This way I got a full body workout, and since I tried to combined these into sets with short rest time (less than 30 seconds per set) I got a more high intensity workout.
