Philip LooneyI’m on a mission to help you live a healthier, fitter life!

My name is Philip Looney and I’m your ACE Certified Personal Trainer!  I work with people who want to lose weight, get fit, and make sustainable, realistic lifestyle changes that they can live with.  I do this by helping people find a personalized exercise plan that works for their busy schedule, and by using education to empower people to make healthier choices.

Now, I wasn’t ALWAYS this way.  I was never an athlete growing up – I was definitely more interested in reading, playing video games, or watching TV than playing sports.  As I got older, this lifestyle continued.  I got a job, got married – I was comfortable.  Fat and happy! I had an attitude that I would eat whatever I wanted because if you’re going to die anyway, you might as well enjoy it.  All the fried foods and sweet tea a southern boy could love.

This attitude along with a sedentary lifestyle saw me eventually tip the scales at 240+ pounds on a 6 foot frame.  Each year, I was moving up a pant size.

It all changed for me in 2009,  when my doctor told me I was in danger of having to go on blood pressure medicine and that I needed to lose the weight.  I made a decision then and there that I was too young to be on blood pressure medicine if I could prevent it.  Using a foundation of regular exercise and changes in eating habits, I lost the 40 pounds in about a year.   I’ve kept the weight off ever since.  My physicals now show that my blood pressure,  blood sugar, cholesterol, and all other indicators of health are a complete 180 from when I was overweight.

Because my friends and family always ask me for help, I became a Certified Personal Trainer so I can use the correct training methods and tools to help the ones I love make these same changes.  It hurts me to see people struggle with obesity and the related problems that come with it.  Because of my personal experience, I firmly believe physical fitness and healthy living is a way of life that can benefit everyone!

  • I’ve had some great opportunities to travel the world and see places like India, South Africa, Gabon, France, Turkey, and Ecuador!
