With Memorial Day marking the unofficial start of summer vacation, a lot of folks are planning their vacations. I know one of the toughest things to do is to maintain your fitness routine while traveling. You never know what type of fitness facility the hotel or resort you’re staying at will have. I’ve stayed in hotels that had everything from state-of-the-art machines, dumb bells, and other equipment; to hotels with nothing but a treadmill that may have been older than me.
To get around this, I often times will pack portable fitness equipment, like resistance bands, a single kettle bell, or a TRX Suspension Trainer
. If packing equipment isn’t an option, there’s always FitDeck Bodyweight
deck that will let your train anywhere and fits in your pocket.
For something high intensity, here is a Cross Fit style work out I’ve done in the past while on the road that is high intensity, and can be done just about anywhere.
After a warm up, do 5 rounds of this circuit with 3 minutes rest in between each circuit. If you don’t have access to a pull up bar, a solid tree branch can work.
Pullups | Pushups | Situps | Squats | |
Advanced | 10 | 30 | 40 | 50 |
Intermediate | 10 | 20 | 30 | 40 |
Beginner | 5 | 10 | 15 | 20 |
I’ve done this work out a few times, and even with a warm up, it takes about 30 minutes or so; so you’ll have plenty of time to enjoy your vacation!
