September is National Childhood Obesity Awareness Month. Did you know that 21.5% of children aged 10-17 are obese in South Carolina? That’s no. 2 in the nation. What can you do? Help the children in your life be active and healthy. Here are a few ideas:
- Get the kids together to play at the park. Try a sack race (see above), kick ball, anything that gets them out and moving.
- Instead of keeping candy around the house, keep fruits like grapes, apples, and bananas to snack on.
- Limit screen time: Keep screen time (time spent on the computer, watching TV, or playing video games) to 2 hours or less a day.
