Part of your weight loss journey includes watching what you eat. When I started my weight loss journey, I tried different diet plans, such as Atkins. But while I lost a few pounds, I never found the diets to be practical to my life, or they had adverse effects on my body.
What I eventually found that worked best, and still works well for me, is keeping a food journal. Studies have shown that keeping a food journal can double your weight loss. The reason is simply that you become mindful of how many calories you’re really taking in. You can then learn how to make better choices when you eat; like switching fruit for french fries.
My personal favorite app for keeping a food journal is Lose It. It’s a free app that allows you to scan bar codes for almost every food you buy and instantly pull in the nutritional information. It also does a great job of remembering your foods that you eat most often, so you don’t have to search each time.
